Help us kick off 2026 with a bit of winter magic! If you are a home educating family then this activity is for you! For the second year in a row, we are hiring the Cool Coast Ice Rink at the BIC for our annual fundraising event. Glide, slide and twirl your way across the rink whilst getting some tips from Nicky Adolphe, founder of the hotline and ex-figure skater! Find out about our work and how we support families facing education barriers, how advocacy can really help and what you can do to improve outcomes when facing challenges in health and social care situations.

CONFIRMED BOOKING is Wednesday 11th February 2026, 10.30-12noon, and/or 12.30pm-2pm.
This is NOT a public session. A deposit must be paid in advance and there MUST be a connection to home education or The Autonomy Hotline (e.g. client/advocate/supporter) before booking.
In order to ensure there is enough interest to be viable, we are asking families to offer a deposit –
EITHER…
£5 for a single skater, OR…
£10 for three or more.
Please pay via our Stripe payment platform and put in either £5 or £10. Donate – The Autonomy Hotline
Unfortunately this is non-refundable. ONLY pay for one option above.
Should there be any cancellations or changes, it is unlikely we will be able to offer refunds. In the event the skating does not go ahead, we will endeavour to host another activity for home educating families. All funds go towards the work of the hotline.
We get a notification of a ‘pending’ booking upon registering. Following payment of the deposit, this will be ‘confirmed’ and you will get an email for this (Please be patient with the confirmation email – we are a very small team following up each request personally!). We will contact you to confirm how many places you would like to have and any information relevant to the session.
Once we have a rough idea of numbers we will ask for a donation upon arrival (card or cash is fine) of something between £3.50-£6.00 for any additional skaters after the deposit is taken into consideration. All funds after the rink has been paid will be going towards working with families and supporting people going through court cases. Please print email confirmation or show the confirmation message upon arrival.
We are aiming to keep the costs as low as possible. The rink has offered us a fantastic deal which will be well worth the visit!
(usually tickets are £13.50 for an individual skater.)
NOTE BELOW:
Skaters skate at their own risk. Skating is a risky activity and participants should be in good health in order to skate safely!
Age 4 and over, no under 4s are permitted to skate according to the rules set by the BIC.
Please bring gloves, water bottles, spare socks. Avoid denim/jeans, as leggings and tracksuits are preferred, because they are more comfortable when skating. No scarves or loose clothing. Skates provided, but if you have your own do bring them. No phones on the ice without permission.
For any queries please leave a message for Nicky at The Autonomy Hotline – 0333 772 1227. It might take a day or two for messages to come through.
Bookings CLOSE on the Monday 9th Feb at 11pm. We reserve the right to turn away anyone who has NOT paid a deposit after this time.
