About

Who We Are…

We are a small team of independent specialists with experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Advocacy, law, medical treatment, ethics, human rights, family life, parenting, psychology, counselling and natural health. Our interdisciplinary approach means we can look at aspects of health care in different ways, using a range of skills to tackle issues of injustice, ensuring that you are listened to when it comes to disagreements with professionals about what you need for your well-being.

Meet The Team…

Nicky…

Nicky has an MA in Bioethics and Medical Law from St Mary’s University, Twickenham. She completed her dissertation on medical issues in family court in October 2020. Her research explored the ‘best interests’ test and how court cases in family law affect the relationships between doctors and parents. She has interests in patient-professional relationships, gender aspects of health care, consent, vaccines and children’s rights.

Prior to the MA, Nicky was an avid ice-skater and athlete. She graduated in BSc (Hons) Sports and Leisure Management at Sheffield Hallam in 2003, and then went into various management and coaching roles in sports, play and leisure facilities before managing her own coaching and training business. When she became a mother, she trained and worked as a breastfeeding counsellor in 2008-2014, gaining experience with listening skills and working with parents. She has always supported natural parenting styles, often advocating for parents’ choices with birth, breastfeeding and natural approaches to health. Medical ethics was a natural progression from breastfeeding and parent support.
