We’re currently seeking people to be an area ‘rep’ within the UK.
If you have had customer service experience, some basic knowledge of the legal system, first hand experience of either patient care or social work, then we would love to hear from you!
A membership fee of £35 will secure your interest and pay for the first training module. Subsequent modules can be purchased or you can accrue voluntary hours on the hotline instead. You will be a combination of ‘patient’ advocacy – supporting NHS meetings and complaints, and ‘peer parent’ advocacy – supporting clients facing social care or family court. Both roles involve listening skills, careful documentation, analytical skills, and a commitment to confidentiality.
The work is likely to involve a number of voluntary hours to begin with, but the vision of the hotline is to encourage volunteers to develop a strong client base in their area which is likely to include private paying customers. As volunteers become more knowledgeable and experienced, the potential for income increases.
The work is incredibly rewarding. You will be providing real, life-changing support for people who are facing deeply traumatic experiences. You will be in charge of managing your own hours and case load. You will be working alongside Nicky, developing the team to expand patient/parent advocacy across the UK. It’s a very unique exciting project to be involved with!
